In the last decade or so, Thai dating sites, have sprung up all over the place, both paid and free ones. ICQ and Bangkokchat used to be the most popular sites some 10 years ago. Back then it was mostly middle class to upper class women who had access to a computer and there were fewer foreign men who were online. Today, every Thai single girl (and not single), has a profile with at least one dating site. Those that can’t speak any English get their friends to write one for them.
Thai dating sites can be divided into three categories: Paid dating sites, free dating sites and social networking sites.
Hi5, Tagged and Facebook are popular with Thai women at all ages and not a bad way to meet Thai women, though some may feel that it’s a bit weird to add random girls to your friends list.
The free sites worth mentioning are Date In Asia and Thailand Friends. Date In Asia has gotten a bad reputation for scams and insincere profiles. It’s also not a user friendly sites. It only possible, for example, to have one profile photos and as you may have discovered, girls sometimes put up one picture taken from that one angle that makes them look ten times better and 20 lbs lighter than they really are! I wouldn’t recommend Date In Asia. Thailand Friends is a decent site, with mostly Bangkok members. It’s a bit clichy, but worth signing up for as an expat. It’s not the place to look for a serious relationship though, more like a networking site, friends with benefits kinda deal. Check it out though, if you live in Bangkok.
There’s two main paid sites, ThaiLoveLinks (read review here) and Thai Love Lines (read review here). Both have over a hundred thousand members. Thai Love Lines is the newest of the two and has more Thai girls with good English signing up for it.
